Ramadan -
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. It is considered one of the Five Pillars of Islam, and is a time for spiritual growth and self-discipline.
During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs. The fast is broken each day at sunset with a meal known as iftar. It is also common to eat a pre-dawn meal called suhoor before the start of the fast.
In addition to fasting, Muslims are encouraged to increase their prayers and recitation of the Quran during Ramadan. Charitable giving is also emphasized during this time, with many Muslims donating to those in need.
The end of Ramadan is marked by Eid al-Fitr, a joyous celebration that lasts for three days. Muslims typically gather with family and friends, exchange gifts, and enjoy feasts to celebrate the end of the month of fasting.
